The International Journal of Applied Linguistics is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. We expect all stakeholders—authors, reviewers, and editors—to adhere to ethical principles that promote integrity and transparency in the publication process. This page outlines our policies on ethical behavior in publishing.
Responsibilities of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that their work is original and does not plagiarize the work of others. Any material that is not original must be appropriately cited.Multiple Submissions:
Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical. Authors should confirm that their manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.Authorship:
All individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research and writing of the manuscript should be listed as co-authors. Anyone who has contributed to the work should be acknowledged.Conflict of Interest:
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research or interpretation of results.Data Sharing:
Authors should be prepared to provide data that supports their findings for verification, upon reasonable request.

Confidentiality:
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and not disclose any information regarding the manuscript or the review process.Impartiality:
Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts objectively and should not allow personal bias to influence their assessment.Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect their review. If a conflict exists, they should recuse themselves from the review process.Timeliness:
Reviewers should complete their reviews in a timely manner and inform the editor if they are unable to meet deadlines.

Editorial Independence:
Editors should make decisions based solely on the academic merit of the work and the relevance to the journal, without regard to personal interests or relationships.Transparency:
Editors should provide authors with clear guidelines regarding submission, review, and publication processes.Conflict of Interest:
Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict.Handling of Complaints:
Editors should address any complaints regarding the publication process in a fair and timely manner, investigating all allegations of misconduct thoroughly.
Consequences of Misconduct
Any violations of the publication ethics outlined above may result in the following actions:
- Rejection of the manuscript.
- Withdrawal of the published article.
- Notification of relevant institutions or organizations.
- Ban on future submissions to the journal.
